Grand Valley Highland Games

Athletics

The Grand Valley Highland Games features events, displays of artistry, and craftsmanship that helps to preserve history by teaching the future.  Attracting visitors from near and far, young and seasoned, the games highlight the Scottish and Celtic cultures through music, athleticism, and workmanship.

Bagpipe and Drumming Competition

The competitions are judged by Internationally recognized WUSPBA judges.  As one of the first festivals on the circuit, the Grand Valley Highland Games offers the opportunity for musicians to compete and receive feedback to help prepare for the additional competitive events during the season.

Dancing

GVHG hosts competitive and exhibition events to expose attendees to the beauty and grace of Highland and Irish dancing styles.

Athletic Events

Strength, Coordination, and Skill are showcased in each of the Athletic events of the Games.  Spectators will marvel at the athleticism as they cheer on their favorite competitors from Caber Tossing to Stone Throwing to lofting hay bales over bars.

Live Music

In between the competitive events, attendees will enjoy singing and dancing along to the Young Dubliners and the Wicked Tinkers. We will also see performances by the Lougheed Band for the “softer side of Irish Ballads.”  Festival goes might recognize them many regional festivals from Colorado to Arizona to Utah.  Stonefly will also be making an appearance at this year’s Games playing tunes you might recognize from the 70’s along with some of your favorite Irish Pub Songs.

Food and Artistic Vendors

A wide variety of vendors will be on hand to make sure your appetites are satisfied and your thirsts are quenched.  Featuring beer from Edgewater Brewery along with food trucks from near and far, there is something for everyone.  Our artistic vendors will be selling apparel, hand-crafted jewelry and more.
